How to look after your Brain and improve Memory & Mood.

Nootropics are a category of herbs in our Medicinal practice that have a special affinity with the brain and nurture, tonify and strengthen the brains tissues and synapses and help remove the amyloid plaque buildup therby improving memory, concentration and cognition.

So important these days to nourish our brains especially as we are now living longer than our bodies were designed for and the link to the rise of Dementia that comes with living a longer life.

90% of Our brains nutrients come directly from the gut and interestingly 50% of the neurons in our body line our gut so when you say you have a gut feeling you really do.

Therefore it’s so important to feed ourselves well with good quality & natural foods. Foods that will help to nourish our brains like berries are high in antioxidants vs foods that are detrimental to our brains are processed foods, trans fats, gluten and sugars, as these are high in free radicals; the bad guys that wreak havoc in our bodies amd brain.

“You really are what you eat” in so many ways. Foods like blueberries, my favourite elderberry (highest levels of antioxidants), goji berries, walnuts (even looks like the brain) and plenty of green and cruciferous veg help to nourish the brain.

The Brian herbs that I use in practice are Lions Mane, Rosemary, Bacopa Monieri, Ginko Biloba, Damiana, Scullcap, Gotu kola & Ashwahganda amongst others.

The point here is that PREVENTION IS ALWAYS BETTER THAN CURE. Look after your brain, nourish and love her with all your heart and feed her what she needs through both the foods that you eat, exercise you do, Mindfulness practices you take & the herbs that you incorporate into your life.
